Exclusive Interview

Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today.
3 Hour Catalyst is from the south side of Chicago and originated in May of 2012. We have played local show and have played at the Congress Theater. Our music genre is new metal.

What do you have coming up? What are some of the new projects we can expect to see?
We have played just recently at the Congress Theater due to Evolution Music. After the event they hosted we had doors open up for the band. We have a show that we are looking forward to perform at Reggies Rock Club February 10th. It’s one of the shows we are most definitely looking forward to playing.

Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone.
The song we are promoting is one that the fans enjoy and more leaning towards to that sound.

How does your music separate yourself from other artists and bands out there?
We are original and have our own unique sound with a mixture of clean vocals and heavy drumming and heavy guitars. We see a lot of hardcore bands around here in the south side and we believe our sound can change the scene that we are living in today.

Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
One of the hardest challenges we have encountered is really nothing so far; mot saying we won’t but not at the moment.

What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
Have not had any setbacks.

What are some things artists need to be careful of?
Be careful with people who try to “help” to get gigs when trying to get exposure through shows. I’m referring to managers who feed you lies in order to get money from your band. We have been told by great musicians to try to do things your self.

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
Keep playing and playing events and shows because it is one of the things that makes a band strong. Always try to have friends in the music industry because that’s what will get you places.

What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
We do our best to get exposure through Facebook. We love to give out our EP to the fans after a show in order to get them to check out our music and tell their friends about us.
