Exclusive Interview

Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today.
We are from Haymarket, Virginia. We got to where we are now through hard work and determination.

What do you have coming up? What are some of the new projects we can expect to see?
We have just released our first studio album that we are really happy about.  We have a show at the Velvet Lounge in D.C. that we hope to incorporate new devices into our stage performance. We plan on doing a lot of shows and having varying set lists.

Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone.
Train Song is just a really fun song for us and the crowd. It was written in one night as an impromptu and we just had to keep doing it. It is one of our favorite and more extensive jams that we do live as long. If the people in the crowd keep enjoying we have kept jamming it for like 15 minutes.

How does your music separate yourself from other artists and bands out there?
Were really not concerned about separating ourselves from any one style or artist, but we have a very eclectic style of music because we appreciate for the most part all music. We appreciate more the instrumental and improvisational aspect to playing our songs as it gives us the freedom we all enjoy, which inadvertently separates us a bit.

Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
Building a draw and marketing our music properly. This is a major learning process for us all but we’re doing our best to meet every challenge.

What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
It would have to be finding places to play when we were just starting out, but after much email sending and many phone calls to places we finally had ourselves a few opportunities and the more we play around and the more places hear about us it becomes easier. But it takes a long while.

What are some things artists need to be careful of?
Sometimes with promotions, marketing, and the way business works, it can be easy to forget about the most important thing, the music. I wish we could have a new song written everyday.

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
Meet what you do and rise to the top of your aspirations. For artists like us who are live oriented our one bit of advice is to make a show, it’s what you do to make them remember and connect with you no matter how off it may seem. Be what you are like a painter who paints a picture to sell, either you want it or you don’t.

What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
Performing, a great live performance is what we care about most. We like to be about a great authenticity in music and we hope we provide for the people that love hearing live music.

Where can people visit you?

This website has videos, free music, and upcoming shows. Our favorite place to play is O’ Shaughnessy’s in Alexandria and we are going to be there 2/1 and 3/30.  It’s always a great vibe and a good night there.
